Meet Patrick and Tara, one of those expecting couples that makes you think, “Wow, their baby won the jackpot!” I first photographed Patrick and Tara back in December for a gender reveal/pregnancy announcement session. They had a gift bag filled with either blue or pink baby clothing, and on the count of three they planned to lift the clothing out of the bag and find out whether they were having a baby boy or girl. It’s a boy! Did you catch Tara’s face in the third photo? This is among my favorite photos I have taken because her emotion is such pure JOY. It’s the exact moment she registered that those blue onesies meant she and Patrick would be welcoming a boy.
On a warm April evening we met again at JC Raulston Arboretum, one of my favorite locations in North Carolina’s Triangle. It offers numerous charming backdrops for photos, so I knew it would be fitting for their Raleigh maternity session.
