I’m back!

Oh boy, does life look way different than when I signed off in February for maternity leave.

I’m a mom of three now! Our family welcomed our newest member, Steven, at the end of February, on the eve of COVID-19 shutdowns. Steven unexpectedly arrived on my husband’s birthday, so it seemed only appropriate that they share the same name. Our family now feels complete and, just like his big brother and sister, Steven is getting plenty of practice in front of the camera.

And now about that global pandemic….

Fortunately, family pictures during a global pandemic are still possible. While I may not be able to give high fives, hugs, and hands-on posing during sessions, we are still going to have an enjoyable and successful experience together. In addition to me wearing a mask, we’ll make our time together safe by maintaining at least 6′ distance from each other. I will be primarily using my 70-200mm lens, a telephoto lens that allows me to stand anywhere from 10′-25′ away from my subject(s). Lucky me, it also happens to be my favorite lens for family and individual portraits! From afar, I will give you and your family clear posing directions and prompts to elicit desired facial expressions. Additionally, for our protection, I will not be bringing props like blankets or toddler stools/benches to our session. If you would like to include props such as these during your shoot, I encourage you to bring them.

Earlier this month I returned to booking sessions and photographed a family of three (on the brink of becoming four). It was a fantastic opportunity to make sure the ideas I had about safely conducting sessions worked in practice. Spoiler alert – they did!

Booking for fall full and mini sessions begins later this week, and I can’t wait to see everyone again (from a distance)!
